The landscape in Enontekiö is distinguished by its spectacular open and clear spaces, which you can only experience in the treeless wilderness. Once you cross into Enontekiö, the pines and spruce trees disappear, and the kingdom of the low-growing mountain birch begins.

The highest fells of Finland are located in Enontekiö, of which the most in area of Kilpisjärvi. The most popular ones of these are Saana and Halti. The spectacular views cannot be described by words, and even a picture cannot deliver the feeling that the view from the top of the fell gives. You just have to experience it.

During this seven-day program we want you to experience pure Lappish authenticity, the Sámi culture, reindeer herding traditions, snowmobiling, and wonders of mother Nature from extremely cold winter nights with Northern Lights dancing on the skies.

Day 2:Tour of Kilpisjärvi by Snowmobile

This is a great combination day: learn to drive snowmobile while sightseeing the snowy fells and lakes. Before the tour starts your guide will instruct how to operate the snowmobile. The tour will introduce you to the sights around Kilpisjärvi and take you to a tundra lake surrounded by the mighty Saana and Jehkas fells. The tour will make stop at the yellow border cairn of Finland, Sweden and Norway. Afterwards, you will be guided back to your accommodation.

After a quick intro to the dogs, you will be given detailed sleigh driving instructions. Once you feel prepared, we will head out on safari. The beginning of the route has a few exciting twists and turns, so get ready for an adventure!

Half-way through the tour, we will stop for a break to give the dogs a quick rest and get some pictures. From this point on, the track is smooth and open, providing a great view of the famous Saana fell.

Once we get back, you can help bring your dogs back to their homes. At the same time we’ll tell you about each individual, how they’re cared for, and what makes a great sled dog.
Afterwards you will be transferred to your accommodation.

Day 4:Snowshoeing in the vicinity of Saana

Skiing comes naturally to Finns and kids usually get their first pair of skis as toddlers. In recent years Finns have found a new trendy way to exercise on snow: snowshoes. For a beginner snowshoeing is much easier than skiing. Going uphill and downhill is surprisingly easy and convenient as they float perfectly even on deep snow.

Day 5: Life of a Reindeer

This excursion is a must for you who are looking for an authentic experience in Sámiland. The tour takes you to the frozen tundra of the Käsivarsi Wilderness Area where Nils-Matti spends his days tending to his flock. Reindeer graze freely on their winter pastures while their herder ensures they find sufficient nutrition and that they are protected against predators. Their location is unknown to all but the herder himself, but thanks to modern technology your driver-guide can pinpoint their whereabouts – and off you go, on a unique journey to the empire of reindeer. There are no roads in the wilderness, therefore the transfer is arranged by snowmobile. You will have a chat with Niti and capture the astounding scenes all around you. This tour gives you a glimpse to the reindeer herder’s life and offers you an opportunity to be part of the nature and wildlife.

Day 6:Arctic Dinner & Glass Igloo Stay

During this day you will be tranfered to the reindeer ranch where you will stay for the night in a Glass igloo. The Ranch is deal for savouring the beauty of the Arctic nature. The location is exceptional on lake shore at an authentic and secluded Sámi reindeer herding ranch. Reindeer roaming in liberty on the ranch grounds will delight you and provide marvellous photo opportunities.

At dinner a Lappish three course dinner menu will be served at our Goahti, a Sámi hut, around a blazing fire. Our menu is changing weekly and we’re happy to take into account your special dietary requirements.

Day 6:Departure

Your journey is coming to an end. Your driver will pick you up at your accommodation and transfer you to the airport.
